A question re: fictional villains:

Are there any that break your moral boundaries so badly that you don't understand how anyone could like them?

Are there any that are so bad that you DISLIKE other people for LIKING them?

If not, what would a fictional villain have to be like in order for you to do so? Would you ever?

trying to think about it but NAH, doubt it could ever happen. they could kill kittens and oh god no poor kittens ): but it'd still be fictional so lol who cares really

though on a side note i easily like or dislike characters for retarded reasons like HIS HAIRSTYLE IS AWESOME/FUCKING HORRIBLE

There are a bunch of characters that are like that for me (not understand how anyone could like them), but it's not because of what they do but more of how their characters are constructed.

But there aren't any that I absolutely hate because of what they do, though. Maybe get annoyed at a LOT.

i thought that was kind of unusual? :'I there's always people who are really into the bad guys, just because... they're bad (or something idk) but i kinda prefer the nice guys most times! i don't really get how people like most villians becauseee they're often kinda boring :B

and okay sometimes it's because i'm like "SOB THEY HURT THE HERO ;_;" but only sometimes aksjf'aefidljk

No, unless they are also badly written and so clearly doing terrible things for squick factor that they just lose all humanity. Fictional villains are for letting us explore our boundaries, after all.

I can't really think of any. I mean, I'm a fag for basically all villains anyway - the darker the better, ssssooooooooo that's a no? idk. I can't think of anything a villain could do that would make me be all NO YOU HAVE JUST CROSSED THE LINE.

NAH, NOT REALLY.

Like, the only way I could get annoyed with someone for liking a character is if the character has done a lot of terrible things (AND LIKE NOTHING GOOD EVER) but the person is all "LOL LOOKIT HOW X IS SO SWEET AND CARING, OMG KAWAII DESU DESU WHAT A PERFECT HUSBANDO"

then I'd be all :|

ehhh well yeah in that case they dont like the character, they like some bastardized version of the character in their head so it doesn't really count

There is this one character in CLAMP's X and Tokyo Babylon named Seishirou Sakurazuka whom most of the fandom loves--even though he's a incestuous psychopath who literally kills puppies in order to release the negative karma he gains due to murdering human beings. I can understand why some people would like him, especially considering how charismatic he can be (like most CLAMP characters), but I have no idea why he's as popular as he is.

Whether or not I dislike other people for liking him (or the many characters in other series who are similar to him) depends on how they like him, though. If they think he's interesting, that's fine! If they think he's handsome, that's shallow, but bearable! If they think he's an essentially good person who's "A PERFECT HUSBANDO," like [info]checkerboard wrote, then I can't stand them.

I like villains, as a rule. Pretty much the only thing that prevents me from liking them is if they're given no reason behind what they're doing. In that case, I don't dislike them, they're just a regular character.

Seriously, though? The more moral boundaries that bust, the happier a camper I am.

Sephiroth.

I just don't understand why people like him.

Ffff, not because he breaks moral boundaries. Just 'cause he's so lame.

nnnnnnnnnnnnnnope

I mean, because at the very least they're interesting, even if they're terrible.

I really hate Inertia. To the point where any time I see him I just cringe and snarl his name and flip pages as quickly as possible. I can't really specify why. He's an interesting character and I know other people love him because I see him around RPs sometimes. But ugh. Die Thad die.

Which is weird, because I love all the other Flash villains, even the ones that killed Bart. I forgave them. But not Inertia.

I don't really dislike other people who like him, I just can't understand why. It's kind of irrational.

I dislike moral absolutes on either end. So, I'd dislike good guys the same way I'd dislike villains -- if their motivations are 2-D 'lol I'm good/bad because you're good/bad' whatever blahblahblah.

Yeah, I principally hang out with villains b/c they tend to have a lot more interesting and unresolvable moral ambiguity. :>
