Dave: having played another game of ringing round the entire hospital have discovered shortstuff is drifting in and out of conciousness but not particularly lucid. can't say i blame him after over 6 hours of surgery. he's still all tubed up in intensive care. stressing here that i am in no way an expert when it comes to medicine, the gist of the problem seemed to be that they had an issue with 'excessive bleeding' and having had some complication going about things the way they intended they then went and opened him up from somewhere else. exciting stuff. if nothing else, he might have some impressive scars. doesn't appear to be any particularly serious failure beyond this. will leave AIM running in the background again. increasingly bored without the wife to irritate.
Dave: slightly more awake today is seems, sat up for app. 15 mins before wanting to sleep some more. awake enough to say he doesn't want visitors, however. seems like I'm banned for the moment.
Dave: as far as I can tell yes he is recovering, and no he's not any more borked than he was to start with.
it sounds to me, and I am getting a little inventive here, like the actual complication was them having difficulty extracting it the way they planned which in turn caused them to nick something, start a lot of bleeding, etc etc which meant they had to open him up from the back (and please don't ask how, because I am already immensely confused myself about how that works) which is why I imagine it all took so long.
fun stuff. I remember they had difficulty shrinking it with chemo and they were a little reluctant at pre-op, so I imagine this is proving why. however, I am hoping he'll have decent enough scars to pass himself off as a shark attack survivor.
Dave: leaving aim express signed in again in the background
AIM: davidmmarchant -- do talk to him, I'm sure he's more stressed out than we are
